What is Particle Board

Particle board, also known as chipboard or low-density fiberboard (LDF), is a composite wood product made from wood particles and a binder such as resin or glue. The wood particles are often sourced from sawmill residuals, sawdust or recycled wood waste, and are bonded together using heat and pressure.

Particle board is a versatile and affordable alternative to traditional solid wood or plywood, and is commonly used in furniture, cabinetry, flooring, and construction applications. It can be easily cut, drilled, and formed into various shapes and sizes, and is available in a range of thicknesses and densities to meet different requirements.

Despite its lower cost and weight, particle board has good dimensional stability, strength, and durability. It also has a consistent and smooth surface that can be painted, veneered, laminated, or finished in various ways. However, due to its porous nature, particle board is not suitable for outdoor or wet environments and can swell or decay if exposed to moisture.

Overall, particle board is a widely used and valuable material in the woodworking and building industries, offering reliable performance and cost-efficient solutions for a variety of projects.
